The IISc Finds A Novel Inhibitory Action of Montelukast Against the SARS-CoV-2 Virus
Montelukast administration lead to significantly fewer events of clinical deterioration in hospitalized COVID-19 patients and repurposing Montelukast for tackling cytokine storms in COVID-19 patients has been suggested. A recent study by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) investigated the anti-viral activity of several FDA approved agents including Montelukast against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Newer evidence coming from IISc suggests that Montelukast can be used as a lead molecule to design potent inhibitors against SARS-CoV-2.
